Short
nutritional info on the ingredients contained in this natural energy
supplement: |
| | | | Bromelain
| | Bromelain
is a crude extract from the pineapple that contains, among other
components, various closely related proteinases, demonstrating, in
vitro and vivo, antiedematous, anti-inflammatory, antithrombotic and
fibrinolytic activities. The active factors involved are biochemically
characterised only in part. Due to its efficacy after oral
administration, its safety and lack of undesired side affects,
bromelain has earned a growing acceptance and compliance among patients
as a phytotherapeutical drug. A wide range of therapeutic benefits have
been claimed for bromelain, such as reversible inhibition of platelet
aggregation, angina pectoris, bronchitis, sinusitis, surgical traumas,
thrombophlebitis, pyelonephritis and enhanced absorption of drugs,
particularly of antibiotics. |
| Curcumin
| | The use
of tumeric, derived from the root of the plant Curmuma longa, for
treatment of different inflammatory diseases has been described in
Ayurveda and in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years.
The active component of turmeric responsible for this activity,
curcumin, was identified almost two centuries ago. Modern science has
revealed that curcumin mediates its effects by modulation of several
important molecular targets; curcumin is now being used to treat
cancer, arthritis, diabetes, Chron’s disease, cardiovascular
diseases, osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s disease, psoriasis, and
other pathologies. | | Methyl
Sulphonyl Methane (MSM)
| | Dietary
sulphur-containing amino acids analysis and protein supplementation may
be indicated for vegan athletes, children, or patients with HIV,
because of an increased risk for sulphur containing amino acids
deficiency in these groups. Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), a volatile
component in the sulphur cycle, is another source of sulphur found in
the human diet. Increases in serum sulphate may explain some of the
therapeutic effects of MSM, DMSO, and glucosamine sulphate. MSM may be
effective for the treatment of allergy, pain syndromes, athletic
injuries, and bladder disorders. |
| Nicotinamide
Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD)
| | In
migraine Patients a considerable metabolic disturbance characterised by
a decrease in bicarbonate and an increase in lactate was demonstrated
during the migrainous state. Measurements of the cerebral circulation
were taken by means of radioactive isotope and showed a distinct
decrease in blood supply to the entire brain during the migraine
attack. Following forced hyperventilation during the attack-free
interval a pathological reactivity with decreased blood flow was found
in the hemisphere which had been indicated as the usual site of the
migrainous pain. | | Vitamin
C |
| Delayed-onset
muscle soreness following strenuous use of the posterior calf muscles
was studied to determine if ascorbic acid might have an effect on the
appearance of this familiar pain. A double-blind, randomised, crossover
study compared the soreness in the subjects taking ascorbic acid
against those taking a lactose placebo. Visual analog scales were used
in conjunction with a variety of pain-challenging methods, and the
results indicated a significant difference between experimental and
placebo groups at the height of soreness. Typical soreness abatement
scores of 25-44% were observed. |
| Yarrow
| | From
Herbal Descriptions by Truman Berst: Yarrow (Achillea millefolium).
Yarrow is well-know for its use as a remedy for cold/flu/fever. It is
tonifying and anti-inflammatory to the skin and mucus membranes of the
stomach and bowels, thus; helpful for varicose veins, gastro-enteritis,
dysentery, and diarrhoea. As a hemostatic, Yarrow helps to stop
bleeding of stomach ulcers, haemorrhoids, and for nosebleeds
(especially those due to allergies). Yarrow is an ally for women as it
helps to tone the uterus and promote balance in their menstrual flow.
Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, it helps relieve the dull,
achy menstrual pains; it also helps with postpartum bleeding and
abnormal flows by acting as a hemostatic. |
